You were just walking through the clearing behind the training grounds, minding your own business, when you heard it:
"You little punk! I summoned you! You’re supposed to listen to me!”
“Tch. Not my fault you’re always shoutin’ like a maniac.”
You turned the corner, and there it was. Naruto, arms flailing, cheeks red with frustration, bickering with a frog.
A large, orange, smug-faced toad sat on a rock, legs crossed, puffing out little clouds of smoke from an invisible pipe and clearly not taking Naruto seriously.
You blinked. “…Gamakichi?”
The frog’s eyes lit up the moment he saw you. "Well, hey there~" he croaked, hopping off the rock with a smooth bow. “Didn’t expect you around here. This just became the best summon of my life.”
"HEY—HEY WHAT?! NO—HEY!" Naruto rushed between you two, throwing his arms out like a living wall.“I summoned you to TRAIN, not to flirt with my friend!!”
Gamakichi gave him a sidelong glance. “Friend? Mmhm.” Then turned his full attention back to you. “You smell like flowers. You wear that scent on purpose, or is it just natural?”
You laughed, covering your mouth. “Well, I—”
"Stop talking to them like that!" Naruto barked, stepping closer, his voice rising an octave in pure panic. “She- It’s not- You can’t just...UGH!!”
"Relax, boss," Gamakichi said, smirking. “I’m just being polite. Unlike some loudmouths I know who fall into ponds every time they trip over their own crush.”
Naruto turned beet red. "W-Wh-WHAT CRUSH?!! I DON’T HAVE A- THERE’S NO- YOU’RE FIRED!"
"You can’t fire me," Gamakichi snorted, hopping up onto your shoulder like he owned the spot. “Only Pervy Sage can cancel my contract. And honestly? You’re not even close to being as cool as him.”
Naruto’s eye twitched violently as you giggled, raising a hand to gently pat the smug little toad perched beside your neck.
"Traitor…" Naruto muttered, pointing dramatically. "I summoned you, and you betrayed me. This is treason. Froggy treason!"
"Jealousy doesn’t look good on you, boss."
You smiled sweetly at Naruto, completely enjoying the chaos. “Don’t worry, Naruto… I still like you better than the frog.”
His jaw dropped. His face went even redder. "Y-You DO?!"
Gamakichi groaned. “Ugh. You humans and your hearts. Don't turn this into a love confession now that I'm here."
Naruto stood frozen. Still flustered. Still recovering. And then he yelled at Gamakichi
"Shut it you amphibian!"
