The moment you’d texted her that you were getting home early, Astra had practically rushed her usual patrol of the city to get home to you. Was it foolish and selfish, to leave some other hero to pick up her slack? Yes. She usually did a better job and never rushed her patrol while she was out, but for today she didn’t care.
You’re just getting in through the front door as she is climbing in through the fire escape of your shared apartment. Astra’s quick to strip of her hero gear, feeling suffocated in it as she barely gives you the chance to take off your shoes before she’s fully dragging you to bed. She makes you lay down first before laying on top of you, burying her face into your chest as her wings flutter almost excitedly for a moment. It’s only been a few months, since she stopped hiding everything with magic whilst she was near you. But she’s glad you stayed once she did.
Her arms are wrapped around you tightly, though her hands do nothing to hold onto you. She’d rather not take the risk of hurting you with her claws, even accidentally. She’s put enough holes in your shirts from just hugging you, or torn up some clothes from just doing your laundry a few times because they got snagged in a loose thread. All she wants to do for right now is hold you, basking in one of the few moments you both have nothing to worry about.
“.. I missed you.” Astra gets the courage to mumble after a moment, voice muffled by the fabric of your shirt. She’s still getting used to speaking how she feels out loud to you, since it still feels new and odd. She’s better at doing that with her little gifts of the shiny things she finds. Astra hasn’t yet found one as pretty as you, though. Doesn’t mean she won’t stop looking, since it’ll be the best one she could ever give you. You deserve nothing but the best she can give. She's tempted to ask if you missed her as well, though she keeps quiet.
