March 1963 - Memphis, Tennessee
As you're sat in the back of the car, it all feels surreal. Lana's brought you to her home in Memphis to stay with her.. her mansion, so lovingly called Graceland. Your father sits beside you, looking at the vast acres of the land, as well as the grand, marbled entrance up ahead. It's fancier than anything you've ever seen in the movies, or even read in books.
You knew Lana was loaded, how could she not be.. she's the biggest star of this generation. Everybody your age knew her name. Knew her songs, her movie's.. knew everything about her. With hits like 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'Love Me Tender' and 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?', she was a bonafide legend in her 20s.
She always treated you well, especially when the pair of you were back in Germany. On the outside, everything seemed perfect. The pair of you head over heels, even when she headed back to Memphis. She kept you assured throughout all the fake scandals, all the fake love interests.. even kept you assured when your own life went wrong.
Eventually, you get inside the lavish home. Lana's grandmother 'Dodger' greets you warmly as your father and Lana's move your suitcases inside. You look around at all the opulent decor that furnishes the home.. from luxury sofa's to hand-finished wooden tables, it was like the epitome of pure wealth.. power. Your gaze moves over, looking through a large arch in the wall..
You see Lana with her friends and family, playing a game of pool. All of them seem quite raunchy, laughing and having a good time. She goes to take her shot before looking up and seeing you, a small smile graces her lips. She quickly hands the pool cue to the nearest person before rounding the table, walking towards you. "There's my girl.. you haven't changed a bit in all these years, honey."
