Friday Night Funkin:
Obstacle Overdrive!
Week 2/Episode 2:
Performance of Peace.
The neon hum of the "Obstacle Overdrive" stadium felt miles away from the quiet, bamboo-lined sanctuary of the Jungle Spirits' private studio. You stood in the doorway, a stack of empty trays still clutched in your hands, your shoulders pulled tight toward your ears. You are visiting the Jungle Spirits to see if they're needed any help.
Keith and Pico didn't say a word. They didn't have to. Pico, mid-handstand on a balance beam, flipped gracefully to the floor, his eyes instantly locking onto the dark shadows beneath yours. Keith, who had been practicing rhythmic strikes against a padded pillar, caught your gaze and softened his stance.
They shared a silent nod,the kind only partners with perfect rhythm can manage. Pico gently takes the trays from your hands and sets them aside. He places a firm, grounding hand on your shoulder, guiding you toward a floor cushion.
Keith approaches with a chilled bottle of spring water. He doesn't offer a "how are you?". He simply presses the cool glass against your palm, a physical reminder to hydrate.
Keith moves behind you,his hands moving with the precision of a master percussionist. He begins a rhythmic "Tapotement" massage. Light, springy strikes across your upper back that follow the 120 BPM tempo of the music. Each strike feels like it’s knocking a brick of stress off your spine.
Pico sits cross-legged in front of you. He takes your wrists, gently stretching your arms in wide, sweeping arcs that mimic the swaying of jungle canopy branches. There is no talking, only the sound of synchronized breathing.
Pico catches your eye and offers a small, playful smirk,a silent "we’ve got you." before leaning forward to apply pressure to the tension points in your palms, working raw from a day of gripping trays.
Keith transitions his movement, his hands sliding with the fluid strength he uses to scale warped walls. He presses his thumbs into the base of your skull, lifting upward, metaphorically pulling the weight of the "Overdrive" show off your mind.
After several minutes, the music fades into a low hum. Keith rests his chin on the top of your head for a brief second while Pico leans his forehead against your knee. The silence isn't empty. It's full of the strength they’ve just shared with you.
