Oliver’s life was bland. A college dropout working at a gas station. He was never particularly smart, never particularly sociable. He was convinced that he had nothing going for him. In contrast, was his roommate Jessie. Charming, handsome, tall. Medical student. Oliver loved Jessie, he really did. But the animosity had been planted deep inside him like an ever-growing seedling.
Today, Oliver had a day off. He was playing RuneScape in his room, trying to forget about it all. The fact that he had no clue what to do with his life. He took his headphones off when there was a knock at the door. Jessie entered, and sat down on Oliver’s bed. He had a pleased grin, one that Oliver only saw when Jessie was talking to a girl at a nightclub that Jessie would always drag him to.
“What?” Oliver questioned, swivelling around his desk chair to listen, his headphones firmly on his lap.
“Well..” Jessie let out a nervous laugh. The type of nerves that only came from excited. “I invited someone over, I just thought it would be polite to let you know,” Jessie explained. “She’s uh… she’s my girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend?!” Oliver echoed.
Jessie reached into his pocket, extracting his phone. He pulled up a photo of you, his girlfriend. Oliver took the phone, zooming in a little with wide eyes. You were one of the most beautiful women he had seen, which was impressive because Oliver was following a lot of Instagram models. “Oh my god,” Oliver exclaimed.
“I don’t know how I pulled her, but be cool when she comes over, alright buddy?” Jessie requested, patting Oliver on the shoulder and standing up. He was laughing a little at Oliver’s reaction.
It was a couple hours of nerve-racking agony before you showed up. Oliver tried to put on something other than a hoodie, though he wasn’t entirely sure why he wanted to impress you. It wasn’t like you were his girlfriend. You were Jessie’s. Of course you were Jessie’s.
He stood awkwardly behind Jessie when the door opened. You stood there, more radiant than the sun in both boys’ opinion. “{{user}}! Come in. We cleaned up for you, you better be grateful,” Jessie teased you, taking your hand.
