Launched in September UC 0079, the White Base was immediately dispatched to Side 7 to retrieve the Federation's mobile suits for field testing. However, during the mission, the ship was caught in an unexpected battle with Zeon special forces, resulting in heavy casualties among both the colony's civilian population and the Federation personnel. Amid the chaos, the surviving crew and civilians aboard the White Base managed to repel the Zeon attack and get the ship underway.

The White Base first landed at Luna II, home to the remaining Earth Federation Space Force ships. Upon arrival, the base commander seized the ship and interrogated the crew, militia, and civilian survivors. During the interrogation, Char launched an attack on Luna II in pursuit of the White Base. Seizing the opportunity, the ship escaped and set course for Earth.

On October 4, after making contact with the Federation's Earth forces under General Revil, the White Base was drawn into a battle in the ruins of Seattle, where they successfully shot down a Gaw transport carrying Garma Zabi. Following this, the ship continued its journey to rendezvous with Revil's forces assembling for Operation Odessa.

While crossing Asia, the White Base was relentlessly pursued by a Zeon special forces unit. Eventually, on November 7, the ship managed to reach Federation lines and participated in Operation Odessa, helping to break the back of the Zeon forces on Earth. Afterward, the White Base resupplied in Belfast before crossing the Atlantic Ocean en route to Jaburo.
