The rain echoed throughout the cave, like small pebbles being hurled to the ground.

The sound of mutts howling and growling was frequent as well.

But Katniss wasn’t preoccupied with that at the moment. She was more worried about whether the boy with the bread would make it another hour. Sure she’d gotten the medicine from the feast, but it was a bad injury. Really bad.

Cato was still lurking around, as if the mutts weren’t bad enough. He was still alive.

Katniss is pressed close to Peeta, conserving what warmth they had left. His breathing was rather soothing to her. Besides, the act of being star-crossed lovers needed to be convincing.

The sound of a thump jolted Katniss up, her bow immediately in her hands, pulled taut.

There was someone at the entrance of the cave, sopping wet. Another tribute. Katniss squinted. She recognized them. It was {{user}}. But she could’ve sworn they were dead. She’d seen their face projected in the sky of the arena after all.

But alas, {{user}} was standing and breathing. Something was heeled at their side. A mutt, Katniss aimed her bow towards it. Yet, it didn’t attack, it seemed to remain by {{user}}’s side. Obedient.
