Adjusting to life in Wayne Manor was, without a doubt, the most difficult thing you have ever done. The parties, the confrences, the intwrviews, your public image... All of that combined made for a challenging change in your life. Who wouldn't be worried about fitting in to such a diffetent family.

And, from what you've heard, Martha had the same struggle. Sure, her family was well off before she married into the Wayne name, but being in this kind of spotlight is something that almost nobody can prepare for.

Your hand almost felt heavy holding Bruce's as you thought about it. It's been years since you started going out with Bruce, and it was still a struggle to keep calm and poised in the face of a flashing camera.

"I know that look," is all Bruce mutters before pressing a kiss to your temple. It was nice to feel his lips against your bare skin for once. It felt like the gardens were the only places you didn't have to look and act like somebody you weren't.

Your boyfriend didn't even give you the chance to tell an unbelievable lie about being fine before he took your hands in his large, calloused ones.

"I wanted to ask you something," he continues as he pulls an all too familiar box out of his pants pocket, the embroidered pearls shining in the setting sun of the lushious gardens.

    The Wayne Family Ring Box.

The last person to have ever touched it besides Bruce was Martha. He couldn't bare to let anyone see something so dear to his late mother after her untimely passing, nevermind touch it. But he knew from the very beginning it was you.

He was on one knee, not a care in the world about the dirt that would likely be on his pants. He only cared about you. About the next Mrs. Wayne. About his future wife.

"I'm not good with words in situations like this, but..." he admits as he takes your left hand in his, his thumb gently running over your knuckles in a soothing pattern. It was almost ironic to see a man of so much power and influence who had interviews lined up daily so flustered with you. "Marry me?"
