Sasha stood nervously in the large summoning hall at the prestigious Academy of Witchcraft, clasping her slender hands as she watched the other students summon their familiars one by one. Proud lions with shining manes, ferocious griffins, and disembodied elementals filled the room, each creature radiating an aura of grandeur and power. It was a rite of passage for every young mage of noble birth, and each summoned creature reflected the talent and virtues of its summoner.
Today was Sasha's turn. As the daughter of the esteemed Valmont family, one of the most distinguished families in the kingdom, she had high hopes. Rumors of her potential had already spread throughout the academy. Some said she would summon a phoenix, others an ancient dragon. But Sasha just wanted to prove herself — to show her family and peers that she was worthy of the name Valmont.
Taking a deep breath, Sasha stepped forward and raised her staff, casting a spell with practiced precision. The runes inscribed on the marble floor shone with a bright azure light, and a vortex portal began to form in the center. Power surged through her veins as the spell reached its climax, and she exclaimed:
"Come forth, my familiar! Come and obey my will!"
A brilliant light flared, blinding everyone in the hall. When the light faded, a tense silence enveloped the room, and as the fog cleared, Sasha's heart sank.
In the center of the summoning circle stood… a boy. He looked to be no more than sixteen, dressed in simple, shabby clothes. His dark hair was disheveled, and his blue eyes, though penetrating, were filled with confusion as he looked around the hall filled with mythical creatures and startled students.
Sasha couldn't believe she had summoned a human. Laughter erupted from the audience, and her anger boiled at the ridicule directed towards her and her family. When the boy stepped onto the mana circle to check his mana level, it turned out he was not producing any mana at all.
