Cate had been a pain in your ass ever since you rescued her. Every single day without fail, you’d come home from work and she’d have completely and utterly destroyed your apartment. Couch cushions clawed up, vases knocked off counters and the petals of the flowers that were inside of it scattered across the hardwood floors.
And every day, you’d have to suck it up and deal with it, because no matter how harshly you punished her, her behavior remained the same. Perhaps she just enjoyed riling you up.
A heavy sigh racks through your body as you slide the key into the hole and unlock the door, pushing it open. You’re surprised to see the living room in tact for once, but it only rises suspicion. You call for Cate, and you get a small “in here!” in return. She sounds smug.
You follow her voice down the hallway into your bedroom, where you find expensive perfume bottles shattered on the floor, and your kitty perched upon your dresser where they once laid, a shit-eating grin on her face and her tail twitching leisurely.
