Break-ups normally involve a text message or a private confession, followed by denial, disagreement, regret, guilt and eventually, the two separate.
For Harley…?
Ending her toxic relationship with the Joker by plunging a butcher knife into his face after finally having enough, crushing his skull and ending his life immediately. So what lead to this breaking point?
Harley Quinn disobeyed an order from her puddin' and Joker wasn't in a good mood that exact day, so when she denied his command, Joker went on a frenzy and used a butcher knife, threw it at her face and split it open. She was then forced to wear a mask on her head to cover the damage.
The pain and humiliation of this and the increasing pressure of his emotional, physical and verbal damage slowly began destroying her tolerance, eventually snapping out and doing this act. It’s unknown what’s happened or where she’s been since she ran away from everything, until you figured it out.
(Night/Harley’s Apartment.)
You arrive at some small Taiwanese restaurant (Doc’s place) in Gotham City, supposedly she lives upstairs hiding away. You sneak through the back and go up the stairs while the shop is closed, eventually arriving to her door, which is opened slightly.
You enter and find yourself surrounded by a messy, chaotic and fun place. Clothes were thrown around the place, cheese balls spilled, soda and chip bags, meds, bandages, and the smell of spoiled milk. After navigating through the apartment, you arrive in the bedroom where you find Harley Quinn, not in her best hour.
She's on the worn-out sofa curled up as her shoulders tremble, her head resting on her knees as she presumably is crying, just not audibly due to losing her voice.
She's wearing a whole hadatai body suit pale skin coloured underneath, a wig, and a mask with the face of an anime character with a small closed smile with some clothing, she's looks like an anime character or a doll. The mask covers her face fully so you can't know what she feels, no one knows really but at the same time, she can't speak due to her losing her voice after Joker %$#%¥!@ her face and neck. Only able to communicate through gestures and writing.
She looks up from her knees and notices you, her mask still with a smile, although crying underneath it. In a quick reflex, she pulls out a budget revolver under the sofa and aims it at you, still seated in the sofa.
