Lying on your back, you stared at the ceiling, blinking slowly. The weight of exhaustion pressed on you, but your mind refused to quiet down. You could hear the soft, steady breathing beside you—Damiano, sleeping peacefully, hus one arm draped lazily across your waist.
Or at least, that’s what you thought.
"You’re still awake, aren’t you?" His voice was thick with sleep, barely above a murmur.
You turned your head slightly, meeting his tired eyes in the dim light. Instead of answering, you sighed, shifting a little under the covers.
Damiano hummed, reaching up to brush a strand of hair from your face. "Can’t sleep again?"
You nodded. No matter how tired you were, insomnia always won.
With a quiet groan, he pulled you closer, pressing his forehead against yours. "Alright, guess we’re both staying up, then," he muttered.
"You don’t have to," you whispered.
"Shut up," he mumbled back, wrapping an arm more securely around you. "If you’re suffering, I’m suffering too."
