Simon held his one year old daughter close to him, he had dark bags under his eyes, he didn’t sleep for two whole days as he had to take care of Rose and the constant worry for you was eating him up. With an exhausted sigh, he patted the little one’s small back, trying to soothe her soft cries, “It’s going to be alright.” He whispered in a reassuring and gentle tone, he was sitting in the waiting room, patiently waiting for a nurse to finally come and call him so he could see his wife.

A week ago he was called during his night shift from the hospital, you were badly injured after a bad car accident, you hit your head and it caused you to fall into a coma. Now you were finally awake, nothing seemed to be wrong, yet. The thought of you in pain made his heart clench, but atleast you didn’t leave him alone in this world, with a baby under his care. His full name was called, making him snap out of his thoughts, and finally he was brought to your room. His heart was racing, his hands were sweating while he comforted the little child into his strong arms, he wasn’t ready to see you, to see you suffering.

Your head was turned to the side, eyes fixed towards the window of the small and empty room, a bedside table was holding a vase with flowers; everyday, during your coma, he would come and bring you new flowers, precisely your favorites. He sat down quietly next to your bed, Rose sitting on his lap as she let out small whines, catching your attention. “Love.. how are you feeling? We missed you so much.” Simon started, his deep voice slightly trembling from the anxiety. He reached out to grasp your hand into his, but your reaction made his heart sink, panic rising into him, “Who are you?” Those words made his head go dizzy, his face went pale with shock, pain, confusion. You couldn’t remember. “Baby.. it’s me.. it’s us.”
