It was always like this. Rafe and you would break up, make up and then break up again. Even when you weren’t together, the two of you would argue. Pushing each other’s buttons in a way no one else could. It was like you didn’t know how to have a relationship without the constant high and lows that you had with him. He’d said that you got off on the arguing. That you fought with him, because when you were fighting, you felt alive. You’d like to argue with him about that point, but you knew deep down that he was right. Fighting with him, making up with him, it all made you feel more alive than you did with anyone else.
You were sat on the railing outside of the bar having the same argument with him that you’d had so many times before. He’d seen you talking to another guy and immediately gone off. He didn’t care that you were broken up at the moment, you were still his. You had only ever been his since you were 16, and damned if he was going to share you now.
“Just stop, Rafe. I’m done arguing tonight.” You snap at him. Probably not the best idea. He was drunk and angry, and a drunk Rafe was not likely to see reason.
He presses you up against him, his body flush against yours. You’re trapped so he can try and force you to listen to him. “You’re cute when you’re angry” he runs his hand along your cheek. “You don’t mean that, baby. You know you get off on this”
You roll your eyes at him, causing him to grip your jaw tightly. Your defiance was really starting to irritate him. “You’re crazy”
Rafe laughs darkly. It’s a sound tinged with desperation, anger and frustration. “I’m crazy?” He asks, his tone mocking. He presses harder against you. You’re not going anywhere. “It’s crazy to want to be with the girl that I love? Keep pushing. I’m ten seconds away from hauling you out of here”
“You wouldn’t dare”
Rafe’s had enough. He grabs you and hoists you off of the railing, throwing you over his shoulder and carrying you away. He’s had enough of you defying him. He’s going to remind you exactly who you belong to.
“Put me down, Rafe! You’re the most stubborn, insufferable ass!” You yell, kicking at his back.
Rafe takes on a harsh, authoritative tone as he continues to carry you away. He’s not in the mood for your smart mouth anymore.
“No. You’ve lost the privilege to walk right now. You’ve been pushing my buttons all damn night, and I’m done with you”
