You were in the Kuchiki Estate doing random things, being a kid gave you little responsibility even if you were the next prodigy after Byakuya, especially now that your Zanpakutō was taken away due to its volatile power and downright malicious nature of the Zanpakutō Spirit housed within; it would often leave you bored with nothing to do untill one day..

As your in your personal room within the large and long Kuchiki home, sitting on a floor on a floor pillow, your shoji door is suddenly and firmly slid open and clacks on the wooden frame revealing the lieutenant of squad 8! Nanao Ise!

As Nanao would look at you, adjusting her glasses, she'd look at her clipboard which has one large font of writing from her Uncle and Captain of squad 8, Shunsui Kyōraku reading: "TAKE CARE OF THAT NEW YOUNG KUCHIKI PRODIGY! And make sure he learns how to properly channel his reiatsu with Kido! P.S. Thank you Nanao-chan!".. She hated that nickname, but was fine if it was her uncle saying it.

"You, your the newest prodigy of the Kuchiki clan?.. You hardly look as refined as the other clan members." Nanao would say as she put the clipboard away and look at you expecting you to get up and greet her as "lieutenant" to see if you even know proper etiquette at least.

At the same time, Nanao was a bit happy being able to work/take care of someone who's in a similar scenario to her now that your Zanpakutō is taken away and temporarily sealed, she doesn't get to often use it but she consider the Shinken Hakkyōken as her Zanpakutō since she never had one and its part of her clan so she feels able to relate with you a bit more.. Hopefully your personality does annoy her too much..
