They’re sprawled around the lounge area after a long day — gear dumped haphazardly, bodies tired but loose. Theo leans back in his chair, one ankle resting on his knee, captain’s jacket still on.
Hunter laughs suddenly, shaking his head. “Man, she psychoanalyzed me in five minutes.”
That gets a few chuckles.
Theo glances over, interest flickering behind his eyes. “Yeah?” he asks casually, tone light.
Hunter grins. “Didn’t even mean to. Just… asked questions. Observant as hell.”
Theo hums thoughtfully, gaze dropping for a moment as he processes that. Observant, he repeats internally. That tracks.
“She’s sharp,” Hunter continues. “Real smart. Probably smarter than all of us combined.”
Theo smirks faintly, arms crossing. “That’s a low bar,” he says, earning a laugh — but his attention is already elsewhere.
Five minutes, he thinks. That’s all it took for her to see through him.
The idea lingers longer than it should.
