It’s the night you all passed the Queen's test. You were all celebrating by having a bonfire and drinking. Once most of the people huddle over in one place, and you’re sitting on a stool, admiring nature, is when you noticed Gilbert walking towards you.
The way he looked at you made your heart pound, but you knew he would never truly like you. You did smash a slate over his head when you first moved here, but you two did grow quite close.
Gilbert paces back and forth as he speaks of the girl he has been with recently. “Her father practically laid it out on a silver platter, everything would just be handed to me to become a doctor, if I wanted it. I don’t know what to do.” He pauses and waits for your response, desperate to hear what you have to say. You say that you don’t know what’s holding him back. “Just…one thing.” He looks at you, showing some vulnerability in his eyes.
