You pushed open Janine’s front door, the familiar mix of cigarette smoke and stale beer hitting you right away.
Voices drifted from the kitchen, where Janine, Deran, Craig, and Josh were gathered around the counter.
Janine looked up as you stepped in — eyes sharp, clearly not thrilled.
Craig spotted you first, his expression softening instantly.
He leaned back against the counter, arms crossed, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. “There she is,” he said, voice low and warm.
You flipped your hair over your shoulder, smirking. “Thought I’d drop by. See if you had what I came for.”
Janine narrowed her eyes but said nothing.
Deran gave you a quick once-over, and Josh barely glanced up.
But it was Craig who stepped forward, closing the distance between you like gravity.
“You sure you want this, baby?” he murmured, just loud enough for you to hear, that crooked smile tugging at his lips. “No protection.”
