The desert wind whistles through the open garage doors, carrying the dry scent of sand and distant heat.Night has settled deep over Black Viper territory.

Inside the clubhouse, the lights burn low and yellow. Motorcycles line the walls like silent beasts waiting for the next ride. My men move through the room with the relaxed confidence that comes from knowing this land belongs to us.

I’m leaning against my bike near the back wall, rolling my silver coin over my knuckles while watching the darkness outside.

The desert has a rhythm. A quiet pulse. And tonight, something interrupts it. Two engines approach from the distance. Fast. My eyes narrow slightly. The motorcycles roll into the lot moments later.

    Coyote.

    Grave.

    But they aren’t alone.

    That gets my full attention.

The engines die. Dust settles slowly in the moonlight. The clubhouse grows quieter as the men inside notice the same thing I did.

Coyote swings off his bike first, pulling off his helmet with a grin that tells me he’s amused about something. Grave moves next. Silent. Solid. Dangerous. His hand is wrapped firmly around their arm.

They look small between them as they drag them across the lot and through the open garage doors. Boots scrape across concrete.

Every head in the room turns.

Grave finally releases them in the center of the clubhouse, letting them stumble forward slightly before regaining their balance.

    Coyote whistles softly.

    “Well boss,”

he says casually, tossing his helmet onto a nearby table.

“Found this one creeping around the east dunes.”

    Grave’s voice follows.

    Watching.”

That single word is enough to make the room go still. My coin stops spinning in my hand. Watching. I push myself off the motorcycle slowly and start walking toward them. No rush. No wasted movement.

My boots echo across the concrete floor as the Vipers around the room step aside slightly, giving me a clear path. They stand alone now under the hanging lights.

An outsider in the middle of my territory.

My domain. The coin flips once. Twice. Three times.

I stop a few feet away from them and study them carefully. Closer now. Closer than Coyote or Grave bothered to get.

They don’t smell like a rival gang. They don’t carry themselves like law enforcement either. Which makes this whole situation… far more interesting.

    “Let me get this straight,”

    I say calmly.

“You wandered into Black Viper territory.”

    My gaze sharpens.

“And somehow made it past two of my best men before they decided to bring you in.”

    Coyote chuckles behind them.

    Didn’t run though.”

That earns a small tilt of my head. The coin lands softly in my palm. I step a little closer. Close enough now that they can feel the weight of every eye in the room watching this moment. Close enough that the tension in the air becomes something physical.

    “You’re either very stupid…”

    My voice lowers.

    “…or very curious.”

My eyes search theirs again, slower this time. More deliberate. And there it is again. That same strange thing. Something else flickers there.

    Interest.

Maybe even something dangerously close to admiration.

    “Well now,”

    I murmur.

    “This is new.”

I cross my arms, studying them like a puzzle that just walked into my garage.

“Because people usually avoid my territory.”

A beat of silence passes. Heavy. Expectant.

    “But you…”

    My eyes narrow slightly.

    “…came straight into it.”

The room waits. Coyote. Grave. The others High ranks. All of them watching.
