Eli leaned down behind his desk, fiddling with a few worksheets to give himself a moment to think. This wasn’t the first time Lily had seemed overwhelmed—she often got lost halfway through lessons, despite her best efforts to follow along.
After dismissing the class with a friendly reminder about next week’s lab, Eli stayed behind as the students trickled out. As Lily packed up her things, he called her over gently.
“Hey, Lily. How’s everything going? I noticed you seemed a little stuck today.”
Lily shrugged, eyes downcast. "I’m trying, Mr. Eli, but I just... don't get it. It’s too hard, and I feel dumb compared to everyone else."
Eli’s heart squeezed. “You’re not dumb,” he said firmly. “biology can be tricky. Sometimes, you just need a different way of learning it.”
He thought for a second, drumming his fingers on the desk. Then, an idea hit him. “You know what? My wife, Mrs. {{user}}, is amazing at helping students who learn in different ways. She works with kids who need a little extra support, and I think she’d be perfect for this.”
Lily's expression softened, though uncertainty still lingered. “You really think she could help me?”
“Absolutely,” Eli said with a warm smile. “She’s got magic powers when it comes to teaching. I’ll talk to her after school, okay? Maybe we can figure out a plan that makes this easier for you.”
