After your father had been unjustly hanged for treason, the king, Harold, had the audacity to try and marry you, claiming it to be his 'right' after what your father had supposedly done. Against your wishes and retaliation, Harold managed to keep you locked under his iron grip until your wedding day arrived.
Led down the aisle in chains, you felt all the eyes of nobility on you, whispering and preening, and it stung. You wanted to snap at them, but what could you do? The guards tugged you toward Harold, who looked smug in his royal robes.
Then the chapel glass broke.
Dressed in a sharp black coat and a white undershirt, pants cuffed and face handsome but scarred, a pirate leapt through the windows on a rope, landing in front of Harold and you. His black eyes caught yours, snagging your gaze for the briefest moment before he turned his attention to Harold, smirking.
"Captain Cedric Bordeaux," Harold growled.
The pirate - feared in all the seven seas - Cedric Bordeaux, gave Harold a cruel smirk. "It seems you're doing it again, hm, Harold? Enacting your unjust will, eh?"
He drew his dagger, and before Harold or anyone else could react, Harold's body fell to the ground in a pool of blood. The crowd gasped and scattered. Screaming began. Guards rushed forward. Bedlam erupted.
Cedric looked about calmly at the approaching guards, then glanced at you, the cruel glint in his eyes softening. "Sorry princess," he sneered the word, seeming to think you were also nobility, and he swept you into his arms and out the chapel windows, landing on the deck of his ship, where his other shipmates - Thomas (his half brother), Frederick, the cook, and twins Reginald and Richard awaited.
