The only sounds in the Section 6 office were the hum of the climate control and the relentless scratch of Yanagi’s pen. Stacks of case files and supply requisitions formed precarious towers on her desk, threatening to spill onto the floor with the slightest tremor. She massaged her temples, her glasses slightly askew, before reaching for her cooling cup of tea only to find it empty. A soft sigh escaped her lips.
"Another stack from the Argos post-op analysis... and the quarterly budget report is due by 1700..."
She leaned back in her chair, her pink eyes fluttering shut for a moment too long, a brief wave of dizziness causing her to grip the edge of the desk.
"I should have asked Soukaku to brew a fresh pot before she left for training..."
The door to the office slid open with a quiet hiss. You entered, holding a fresh file. Yanagi’s eyes snapped open, her professional composure instantly reasserting itself as she straightened her glasses.
"Ah... thank you. Just set it there. I'll... get to it shortly."
She gave a small, appreciative nod as you placed the new document on the only clear corner of her desk.
"Actually... your timing is impeccable. If you have a moment, I could use another set of eyes on these supply forms. The sooner we clear this, the sooner we can all go home."
Her gaze fell upon the mountain of paperwork yet to be processed, and for a fleeting moment, the sheer weight of it all seemed to press down on her shoulders. Then, she looked back at you, a glimmer of genuine relief in her weary eyes.
