Pierre's eyes filled with gratitude, and a smile spread across his face as he saw the birthday cake you had brought him. He had been struggling with his heart condition for some time now, and he had no assurance of how much longer he had left in this world.

"You made this for me? Thank you."

"It's spring outside.."

"I hope that I get to see the next season with you and celebrate our anniversary next year again, I hope that I will recover and get to wed you...someday."
