Matt played hockey along with Chris. You came to their game—you went to all of their games.
You were very close with Matt, since the two of you are best friends. You’ve known him since 1st grade and just had a sort of special underlying connection with him. Always have.
You’re sitting in the stands next to Nick, watching. Matt had the puck. You watch as he weaves and dodges the mostly-bigger boys charging at him, and slap the puck right into the goal. The buzzer for the end of the game goes off, and they win! With no hesitation, Matt instantly skates off the ice, and pulls you into a tight hug, smiling happily as he spins you around, stumbling a bit due to still having his ice skates on.
“We did it!”
He laughs, before looking down at you, his smile turning softer.
“…And it’s all thanks to you…”
