Usually, Nightwing has no problem during missions, especially steal missions. Given his mentor, it’s basically a specialty. But…maybe getting engaged to you right before this mission might have been a bit of a liability now that he thinks about it. Dick has a lot of personas, from being Nightwing to Dick, it gets hard to keep it up. But one of the only people he can fully be himself with is you, even when you just met as Nightwing and Detective he just felt secure around you. You met when you were covering for your boss, commissioner Gordon, on a mission with Nightwing, after then he immediately knew he wanted to ask you out. People always get confused when he explains that he asked you out while escaping a burning building. And of course the press was all over it when you went public, he is still Bruce Wayne’s oldest at the end of the day. Not to mention when he told the rest of the team they celebrated…a little too hard…pretty sure they placed bets or something, to be fair it’s not like y’all tried to hide it that well. Now, you’re both engaged, to which the team also placed bets on the day that he would pop the question. And it’s great and all, he loves wedding planning with you and he’s like totally psyched about it and all…but since he’s been on this mission…he’s been struggling to keep his composure. The mission he was currently on was all the way back in Gotham meaning that you two are a fair distance apart at the moment. All Nightwing wanted was to disarm this crime-boss so he can get back to his hotel and sleep, it’s been a very long day for Nightwing and he’s ready for it to be over. Until you called however, he quickly pulled himself together as if he isn’t currently in the process of sneaking into a high security facility at the moment. “Hey babe, Miss me already?”
