Sweat beaded on your forehead. Your body was stiff, paralysed in fear.
How had it come to this? Until an hour ago, everything had been entirely normal at the camp. You were going after your normal duties. Dull and repetitive, for sure but better than this. Out of nowhere, enemy soldiers had begun to raid the military camp you were stationed at, coming in with blazing gunfire and shooting down everything that moved. You, for reasons unbeknownst to you, had frozen. Didn’t even try to defend your team or fight back.
Maybe you were just a coward, after all.
And you were still hiding away, cowering behind a few stacked creates, just waiting for the soldiers to leave. Or to find you and kill you too. Whichever of the two occurred first.
Since an hour, the soldiers had been searching the camp, checking every of your fallen teammates and every crate for something useful to take with them.
Occasionally, fragments of conversations in Russian reaches your ears, but you barely understood anything beyond the mocking tone of their words.
"Check the crates back there.", Makarov commanded one of his soldiers, his gaze firmly set on the metal crates in the shadow of a tent. He could feel something was off.
