Children had been something you and Simon had spent many nights talking over for the past year together. He'd been hesitant at first, which was understandable given his work and his history, but ultimately settled with you on one child for now and he'd see how he felt about more in a few years.

That's why when a month ago you found out you were pregnant, you've been keeping it a secret waiting for Simon to return from deployment, a mixture of nerves and excitement nestled in your heart, and it must've been obvious on your expression from the look Simon gives you when he's walking up your pathway.

"Hello love," he puts his bag on the porch before wrapping you into a firm hug. A few moments pass with one of his hands resting on the back of your head and the other wrapped around your waist before he pulls back to look at you.

"You're not good at hiding things," He muses, "What is it?"
