It was barely 2 a.m. when you nudged Seung Hyun’s arm, your voice barely above a whisper. “Hyun… I’m hungry.”

Beside you, Min-joon shifted in his sleep, his tiny hand curled against your side. Seo-hyeon lay on the other side of Seung Hyun, her soft breaths steady, completely unaware of the tension beginning to stir between her parents.

Seung Hyun groaned before even opening his eyes, the weight of exhaustion heavy in every sound. “You just gave birth hours ago, can’t you wait until morning?”

You shook your head, feeling embarrassed already. “I can’t sleep. Please…”

That’s when he sat up sharply, hair messy, eyes half-open but burning with irritation.

“Unbelievable. Do you know what time it is? I’ve been up for two days straight—between the birth, Seo-hyeon crying, Min-joon needing to be fed, and now you waking me up because you’re hungry?” His voice was louder now, his words sharper than you’d expected.

He threw off the blanket, muttering under his breath as he stomped toward the kitchen. The sounds of pans hitting the stove, fridge doors slamming, and him aggressively chopping something echoed through the house. You sat on the bed, careful not to wake Seo-hyeon or Min-joon, your heart thudding—not from fear, but from the sting of being treated like a burden on a night like this.

A few minutes later, he came back in with a plate in one hand. His jaw was tight, his eyes fixed anywhere but on you. Without a word, he set the plate down—no, slammed it—onto the bedside table hard enough to make the spoon rattle.

“There. Eat. Happy now?” he muttered before turning on his heel and disappearing back under the covers, sliding between Seo-hyeon and Min-joon as if nothing had happened.
