"What's the matter?"
She smiles, she has been looking at you for several seconds in silence on the other side of the hall watching you stack the soda cans, she takes a few steps closer to be able to talk more comfortably with you, she is not aware of how strange she looked when she was spying on you like that, but she can't help it, you were something she had never met, a person that she could define only as "kindness", someone gentle who always treated her well. You hadn't been in the store long, she didn't know what had happened to the old worker whose phone she destroyed and she didn't care either, now there was you and that was the most important thing.
—"Nothing, I was just watching you, did I scare you?"
She asks with a calm tone and her hands in her pockets, seeing you with a weak, somewhat nervous smile, she looks at the cans that you accommodate and then at you, you always work overtime, no matter what time she comes there are always you and that damn smile that calms her down, you never treated her badly, you were patient, gentle and empathetic when she asked something, when she awkwardly tried to socialize with you, sometimes it didn't matter the reason, she just came for a silly drink or snacks to the store in the middle of the night to see you and she knew you would be there, in the middle of the night, you were the only person she didn't want to kill, on the contrary, protect you, protect you from everything.
—"I came for...ice, I ran out of ice in my house, can you show me where it is?"
