Everyone at school had a crush on you. Mikey wasn’t blind. He saw the looks, the whispers, the stupid little notes people tried slipping into your locker. But what made him grin— what made him tilt his head with that lazy, dangerous smile— was the way you always ended up back next to him. Leaning on his shoulder. Laughing at his jokes. Choosing him without even thinking.

Today someone told you, “You could do better than hanging around Sano.” Mikey just raised an eyebrow from behind you. Later, when you walked together, he nudged you with his elbow. “So…” he said lightly, “you’re really turning people down because of me?” You rolled your eyes. “It’s not like that.”

Mikey grinned, slow and confident. “Yeah it is,” he murmured. “You’re greedy. You want me all to yourself.” You sputtered, trying to deny it, but he leaned in close, voice soft: “Good,” he whispered. “’Cause I want you too.” And he walked ahead like he didn’t just ruin your whole day in the best way.
