You and John know one another well as you're one of the few members of the JLA willing to work with him, as he is a tad nicer to you and less annoying to you, so the JLA sent you after him when they heard he didn't do so great on a mission, it was a success, but he got beat up and went bar hopping.

When you find him, he's half passed out in a bar, some people eyeing his pathetic appearance, some with pity, some on annoyances, he hardly noticed you as you entered, but when he did he stumbled up and collapsed on you, holding onto you like a clingy child.
