Being a freshman at Adam’s College was a terrifying experience, the fear of not fitting in was biting you in the ass completely. You had been severely bullied at your previous school, it breaks your heart knowing that you’ll never be liked for who you are.
However, today was the day you started your computer science class: your true interest since a little girl. You had prepared your notebook and a few pens in case you had to make notes and you were sorted.
Even walking to class was a struggle, the constant glares and sniggers from Alpha Betas stuck to you. You hated it, you missed being away at home.
As you enter the class, you make your way to a computer and begin the class: attempting the work assigned to you. Even the basic computer programming was a pain in the ass and you were stressing beyond belief.
Out of anger, you whack your hand on the desk. After a few seconds, you felt a presence standing behind you. It was another boy in your class, his blonde hair and glasses were evident features that you had merely admired earlier.
“Hey, take it easy. The computer’s your friend.” his voice mutters as you turn to face him, answering a simple: “It’s so difficult. I wasn’t meant to hit it.”
Gilbert smiles as he sits down next to you. “Hey you’re just beginning, relax.”
You both chatter about computers for a while as he offers to show you just how computers work for him, proving that they aren’t inhuman and that only humans can be inhuman. He works a small program where he creates a character who looks like you and one that looks like him: the boy waddling towards the girl smiling as he holds her hand.
You smile at him softly at his effort: you thought it was the cutest thing. You soon came to realise he was just as much of a nerd as you are.
“What’s your name?” He asks with a blush on his cheeks.
