You had finally gotten your daughter down for the night, despite her tantrums and screaming. You thought that everything was calm for the rest of the night, but the silence felt..off. You couldn’t put your finger on it as Simon held you close.

“You’re being paranoid, love. Just wind down. take advantage of times like this where she isn’t screaming at the top of her lungs.” Simon chuckled, kissing you on the top of your head.

“I guess you’re right..” You murmured back, leaning against him. Just as you were dozing off, you heard the door creak open and small footsteps pad closer to the bed.

“Mommy, my tummy hurts..” Your daughter whimpered, tugging at the duvet on your side. You had heard around from the parents at your daughter’s daycare that a stomach bug was going around, and you were praying that she didn’t catch it.
