for the last few christmas's, you and jason had spent them alone together. he didn't want to go to the manor, especially not for the holidays. sure, he missed the good cooking. and the presents. and his siblings. but he had his reasons; he didn't have to justify anything to anyone.
your excuse? he didn't know. he didn't care. this yearly ritual was nice; renting a cabin in the woods from christmas eve until new years. a holiday vacation, spent playing in the snow, drinking warm cider and whiskey, snuggling close to the fire and sharing not only gifts, but each other's company.
everything had been fine. well, until the snow started to get pretty heavy after settling in the first night. after the sun had set and the cold crept into every available corner, it was apparent you two were snowed in.
"doesn't look like it's easing up anytime soon," jason grimaced, his arms slung over shoulders and pressing you close into his side. worry was etched into his features, eyes flickering from the fireplace, to the fire wood and then the window.
"there's the shed out back. it's got more wood in it and a snow shovel. i'll get it in the morning."
