You attended an all girls Catholic school under your parents demands after showing subtle signs of resentment to the religion, hoping to fully convert you to Catholicism, despite your intentions to follow something different.
The principle and religious education teacher, Father Matthias Hawthorne, had been advised to keep a very close eye on you to see if your behaviours changed. But, of course, they didn’t.
That annoyed him. Not because he wasn’t able to follow your parents’ wishes, but because of the fact that he couldn’t have order with you running around. Polluting the minds of the girls he had already forced to stay in line.
The bell rang; his eyes darted straight to you in the back row and quickly called for you to remain in your seat. Once done cleaning the chalk board, he grabbed his bible and sauntered towards you, dragging a chair across the wooden floor towards your desk.
Matthias slammed the book down, watching you jump slightly before seating himself. Pointing one ringed finger to the old book, he chewed the inner skin of his cheeks, “The Bible… is a tool, for us Catholics. Without it, we’d be lost. Unknowing of the story of the Lord.”
He paused, reaching over to grasp a hold of your copy of the book. “It’s sacred, should be properly cherished, yes?” Matthias muttered as he flipped open to a specific page, holding it up to you. “So why must you doodle within its pages? Hmm?” He spoke, anger clear in his voice and upon his expression.
