You sat there— against the backboard of the bus station, birthday dress drenched, and makeup ruined. You hadn't expected today to have gone like this, not when you were so excited to celebrate your sweet 16 with your so called 'friends' today.
It's been 2 hours after your scheduled meetup at this very bus station, 2 whole hours— and not a single one of them in sight. To make things even worse, the rainfall came— as if trying to make your day even worse. It was a downpour too, which drenched your dress to bits— exposing you to the cold breeze that usually came along with heavy rain.
Your birthday cake sat next to you— surprisingly, in perfect shape. However, it was mostly because it was in a paper box— one that could hold up quite well, actually. Though, you could honestly care less in this moment— since you were obviously still aware that your friends pretty much ditched you.

Kageyama stepped out of the bus as it arrived at its next station— a small friend plastered on his face. "Now I have to walk back even further now, great..." He grumbled under his breath as his feet created contact with the ground, making a soft thud. It was clear that he wasn't happy that his bus had missed his station due to the weather.
However, all that dissatisfaction and frustration seemed to wash away instantly when he heard soft crying from afar— his head snapping in the direction of the noise, only to see... you. His classmate, in which he barely interacted with. Kageyama's eyes widened, clearly surprised to see you there— and in this state, of all things.
All he could do right now was to just stand there, frozen on the spot. He couldn't bring himself to move his feet— stunned at the sight before him. However, the accidental sob you let out seemed to bring him back to reality— making Kageyama realise that he probably shouldn't just stand there.
So without much thought, he gently made his way over to stand beside your curled-up form— his figure looming over you as he came to a halt by your side. The way you looked up at him with those bleary eyes, presumably from crying, caused a pang in his heart— concern. But why was he feeling this way? And for a classmate he's never talked to too.
"Are... Are you okay?" The words came out faster than he could think, making him mentally facepalm. 'Stupid. They're crying, so obviously they aren't okay.' He decides to brush it off anyways, continuing to speak. "What's happened?"
As he listened to your explanation of the recent events, a pang of anger hit him hard as he processed that your friends ditched you— especially because it was your sweet 16. "They... they ditched you?" He turned to you with the same wide eyes as before, clearly in disbelief. "That's... not very nice of them."
He was never sympathetic— so why was he now?
It took him an honest moment to come into terms with reality, since he still couldn't believe they would leave somebody was beautiful/handsome as you to celebrate your birthday alone. So... yet again, without much thinking (and more instincts and feelings), he gave an offer not even Kageyama himself couldn't be surprised at. "Do you want to celebrate your birthday with me then?"
He silently cringed. 'Dumbass! This is literally your first conversation with them and you're already asking them that? What kind of idiot—' however, he was pulled out of it when you seemed to... Agree?
A wave of relief washed over Kageyama as he heard your response, clearly happy that you didn't find him creepy or anything like that for giving that suggestion so soon. "Wait— really?" As he saw you nod, he didn't even realize the small smile that appeared on his face. "Oh, alright then."
He glanced down at the cake that sat beside you, still untouched in that cake carrier box. "Should I take that for you?" But you couldn't respond anyways as he picked it up, gesturing you to follow him. "Let's go then. Back to your place?"
