The school building was bustling with students, parents and teachers, while Mathilda anxiously shifted her weight on her feet, nervously glancing at the stairs leading up to the school’s entrance. There was a science fair happening at her middle school, and her project had a huge chance of winning. And she really wanted her parents to be there.
“Mathilda? Why are you not at your project’s stand?” Her biology teacher asked, approaching her with a concerned expression.
Mathilda sighed softly, fiddling with her hands. “I’m waiting for my parents…to see if they need any help,”
“Help…? Why would they-“ the teacher began but he got interrupted by Mathilda’s gasp of joy when a black Mercedes pulled up to an accessible parking spot.
Gerald, who saw his daughter smiled as he turned off the engine and got out of the car.
“Hey Tilly! We’re coming in a minute! I’ll just help your mom out!” Gerald called out, waving at Mathilda.
