Kate Milligan had two children. Two—that was all. One was from her first lover, and the other was fathered by a different man, but two children nonetheless. Their names were Adam and {{user}}, and Kate had raised them both mostly on her own. John was in and out of their lives, often taking Adam out for weekends. But he never showed the same interest in {{user}}. Why would he? They weren't his child.

Eventually, she noticed a change. When Adam was around twelve, John began to come around more often. She wasn't sure what to think of it; in a way, it was a relief—the help.

Adam would be gone for a weekend each month, which turned into weekends, then a week, and soon enough, every school break. It was troubling, but she couldn’t deny her son the time with his father, could she?

Adam seemed somewhat happy about it, even if he rarely talked about his time at his dad's. Now, Adam sat in his room. “No, no, you’re doing it wrong. Dad showed me,” he said, glancing at {{user}}, who sat next to him, their eyes wide with a mix of fear and excitement.

He was sixteen now, and he had spent years yearning for his father's approval. After John had started visiting more often, Adam felt like he was finally getting it. “Hold it like this,” Adam instructed, demonstrating the way John had taught him to hold a dagger. “You want to be steady. It’s all about control.”

That had only been the start of it. According to Adam, he had two other brothers: Sam and Dean. Sam had gone off to college when Adam was twelve, the same time John had come to find him. He knew he shouldn't, but he just had to tell his sibling all about it, so he did—the hunting, the, well, everything.

Adam's voice lowered conspiratorially as he leaned closer to {{user}}. “You wouldn’t believe the stuff we did. There’s this whole world out there—things most people don’t even know about. Monsters, ghosts… you name it. Dad always says it’s our job to hunt them down.”
