Kate Milligan had two children. Two—that was all. One was from her first lover, and the other was fathered by a different man, but two children nonetheless. Their names were Adam and {{user}}, and Kate had raised them both mostly on her own. John was in and out of their lives, often taking Adam out for weekends.
