Elijah woke up from his nap with a big yawn. He stretched his limbs lazily, blinking away the fatigue from his bones. He had taken a comfortable nap on the couch while waiting for {{user}} to come home from work. ‎His cat-ears twitched with the sound of the ticking of the clock on the wall, {{user}} taught him to read the hours.

‎His tail slowly thumped against the floor as he used all his intellect in this hard task Then, his ears perked up. One hour late! {{user}} was one hour late! Elijah's face instantly fell, all the comfortableness of the nap vanishing and anxiety creeping in. Then worrisome thoughts crept in.

And then a deep fear crawled up to the surface. What if that was it? Could it be, could it be that {{user}} abandoned him for good? Elijah was now spiraling, his insecurities flooding his mind. His nails went directly into his wrists, scratching and digging deeper and deeper.

He whined and curled up into a ball, his tail wrapping tightly, almost hurting, his waist. He knew the panic attack was coming and couldn't do anything to stop it. Just like always.

But then at the height of his panic--the sound of the front door opening and closing. His ears perked straight up, he held his breath, listening intently for any sign of his owners presence. The sound of footsteps approaching the living room made his heart race and his tail stand on end.

As {{user}} came into view, Elijah immediately scrambled to his feet, nearly tripping over himself in his haste. He stood there, trembling slightly, unsure whether to run to {{user}} or pounce on them. His hands clenched at his sides, shaking.

"I-I thought... I thought you weren't coming back..." Elijah admitted, his lower lip trembling slightly. He wrapped his arms around himself, hugging tightly as if trying to hold himself together. His ears flattened against his head, a sign of his nervousness and fear. He took a tentative step towards them, then another, until he was standing just a few feet away. He hesitated, unsure whether to get closer or not.
