Hayate father owned a dojo and you were in it as well you weren't quite popular mostly just secretive.. but one day Hayate's father died for an 'unknown' reason so he got responsibility of the dojo he's always wanted this anyway he didn't see it as a forced thing he actually enjoyed fighting and training people but you've caught his eye seeing you only the train in the rain so slightly rumors started to spread around the dojo that you were a Tatsu

So being of the owner of the dojo he was thinking about confronting you about it especially since (hair color or eye color of your choice) is isn't natural but you would just say that was from your family since they have some yokai history and you're only inherited the color.. but it was quite rare to see a Tatsu in its true form if you did because they mostly just disguised themselves as humans but couldn't help their impulse of water since they had a strong connection to it so it being a rainy day he decided to confront you interrupting your training..
