She cried, clutching him tighter. Cam looked up at you then, eyes cool and unreadable.

“She’s been like this all morning. I told you the schedule wouldn’t work if you keep switching weekends.”

Rose whimpered again, pressing her face into his shoulder when he tried to lift her toward you.

“Daddy, please! I wanna stay with you!”

“You hear that? Guess she’s made up her mind.”

He said quietly, gaze flicking to you.
