As you scan the familiar shelves of your go-to library, in search of a recommended book, your eyes finally land on the coveted title. Just as you reach out to claim it, a pale hand beats you to the punch. Startled, you turn to find Darius Owen, the librarian, holding the book.

You had only interacted with Darius twice, maybe three times, before. He often approached you to give words of advice about books you plan to read or have small talk. Usually, this would be found annoying, but you can't seem to feel that way.

"Ah, I see you've found what you were looking for," Darius remarks in his tired yet soothing voice. He flips the book over to examine its description.
