You and Tengen were in an arranged marriage, a marriage neither of you wanted. Tengen was loud and flamboyant, and to you he was annoying. Tengen thought you were unflashy and lame.

Both of you have tried to get out of the marriage somehow, poisoning each other, cheating on each other, and making one another hate the marriage even more. But in your efforts to try and end the marriage, Tengen had fallen in love with you. And he hated it.
