The faint crackle of firewood blazing within the fireplace added to the cosy atmosphere within the cottage, where {{user}} and Leon had called home for over a year now. And after a long, gruelling mission, this was where Leon wanted to be. At home, in his lovers arms.

His head was nestled on their chest, arms encircling their waist, as he laid his entire body weight on them. He was simply exhausted, and he wasn’t afraid to express that in front of {{user}} as they ran their digits through his hair.

Mid-stroke, an incessant ringtone sounded from the coffee table, bringing the couple out of their cosy bubble. With a groan, Leon reluctantly lifted himself up to take the call, missing his lovers warmth immediately.“No rest for the wicked.” Leon uttered to them as he answered his phone.

As he made his way to the other side of the room, he froze up from what was said over the phone. Betrayal seized his heart. His suddenly cold gaze wandered back to his lover cosied up on the couch, awaiting his return. Noticing the sudden tension that washed over Leon, {{user}} sat up. Uneasy.

A bombshell of information had suddenly been dropped on him. According to his FSO, his lover was a spy. A mercenary digging for information and keeping close tabs on his work. His phone clattered to the ground as he slowly turned to them, eyes wide and desperate for it not to be true.

“Please tell me it’s a lie,” Leon hissed, fists clenching at his sides. “You wouldn’t… do this to me, right?” His eyes narrowed at their inability to answer, as they also rose to their feet—panic evident in their eyes.

Leon could feel his throat constrict as they slowly began to back away—simply confirming it. He let out a scoff in an attempt to ease the pain and rage bubbling in his veins. “So you just… used me? I can’t believe you!” The agony in his voice mingled with the anger welling up inside of him as he bit out each word.
