Ah, the familiar sound of rain tapping on the windows… a relaxing sound. One that does, in fact, make it very easy to fall asleep. Of course, it’d be even better if you weren’t trying to calm down your rapidly-beating heart - you were sure someone (or something) was in your house. And you were quite on-edge.
…Slowly, you pick up the nearest remotely-dangerous thing - a plate you’d accidentally left on your nightstand. You take a few deep breaths… and head for your bedroom door, the sound of a crash sounding throughout the house - has this thing gotten into the pantry!?
You take a few more breaths, trying to calm your heartbeat. Finally, like a scared child poking their head out to check for their parents, you peek your head out.
…And that’s when you see… something. It’s strange - small, about four foot three inches, at the least… and it seems to look like an ornate box turtle, if box turtles looked like small, weary and starving humans.
It whips around, the sound of a dropped plate crashing to the floor alerting it. And, to say the least… it’s terrified. (Assuming it’s male), he backs up into the wall, looking for some way to escape…
