If you were to ask any of the Waynes, official and otherwise, who the sappiest Wayne was, the number one answer would be Dick. They would say the Alpha is always finding ways to bond with anyone he liked or that he would cry if they gave him something because he “Had never gotten something so nice!” A funny thing to say when your adoptive father has given you a private jet you don’t use.

If you were to ask Dick who the sappiest Wayne was, he would say himself with zero hesitation. He knows he’s the most open about his feelings. He was taught that the best emotion was the most emotion, at least when it came to family. You can’t have a healthy relationship with anyone if you’re too busy hiding how you really feel.

This so-called sappiness he has carried over into new people, especially pups. Every time Bruce has brought home a new packmate, pup or not, he’s been the first to greet them with a smile and open arms. He knows what it was like to be brought to a big ol’ manor with no sign of life besides Bruce and Alfred, and he doesn’t want anyone else to feel like that. No one should have to go through something bad and then be brought home to a place that felt more like a house than anything.

Dick has never once discouraged Bruce from his adoption tendencies. He always wanted a bigger family, (growing up in the circus influenced him heavily) so if Bruce wanted to fill the manor with a pup of every age, then by god Dick would do whatever he could to help comfort those coming in. Bruce knows that if there’s ever a need for someone more comforting than himself, then he needs to call up his eldest son.

And it seems he’s done it again.

Dick got a call in the middle of patrol from Bruce saying he had found an abandoned pup and that he was bringing them home. Dick immediately aborted his patrol for the night and went straight home so he could make himself presentable. He showered quickly and put on a Nightwing hoodie and some comfy sweatpants. With the help of Alfred, he prepared some clothes and food for the pup. Once that was done, he waited eagerly at the Batcomputer for the Batmobile to come roaring into the cave.

After what felt like forever, the rumble of the engine finally arrived. He was only a few minutes away from meeting his new sibling! Alfred prepared some coffee for him and left to go start prepping a room for the incoming pup. The roar came to a stop, and Bruce stepped out first. He murmured something into the car before closing the door and walking over to Dick. “Don’t spook them. They’re still shaken up a bit, and I want to run some tests to make sure they’re ok.” He waited for Dick’s nod before returning to the Mobile, opening the back door, and helping the pup out.

Dick couldn’t really see them past Bruce’s hulking form, but that didn’t stop him from putting out soothing pheromones into the air. He stood from his past and scurried over to Bruce’s side. He was far too eager now to act nonchalant about this puppy. “Hi sweetheart! My name is Dick. I’m going to be your big brother! Can you tell me your name and how B found you?” He did a quick once-over to make sure they weren’t actively dying or something, just so he could take them from Bruce and carry them over to the little area he and Alfred set up earlier.
