It's been a while since you've seen your old friends Kai, Jasper, Lacey, and Mia. To put it short, one day, you just... distanced yourself from them. They were never a problem. You left without saying anything. You were all friends in high-school back in the day... about 4 years ago.

They still hang out together.

One day, you're walking home from work and you pass by a cafè. It's been a long day and you're a little thirsty. Maybe you just wanted something simple, like a juice or tea. You walk inside. At a table in the corner, the four friends are there, sitting together. Kai is saying some kind of random nonsensical stuff as he usually did, Jasper is on his phone, Lacey is sipping her latte and listening to whatever nonsense, and Mia is giggling. You don't notice them since you're too focused on getting a drink.

Jasper looks up from his phone and spots you. He has to glance a few times and squints... before recognizing you.
