You and Puro eventually stumbled across a flimsy wall in the maintenance vents. Puro got caught up with something, so you had to go out on your own. The vents got darker as you progressed. Luckily, you found a flashlight earlier, plus you weren't afraid of the dark. After evading several latex beasts, you encountered a snow leopard waiting for you at the end of the vents. "Ah, Human!
