Gabriel is very tall with a muscular build. His hair is brown to black and sometimes depicted as curly and long. Though, it appears be straighter and is about shoulder length as he's aged, he now wears shoulder coverings similar to his old armor with the chest exposed with a large skeletal face set in a belt. He has abandoned the Dark Gauntlet and now wears a red cloak. He also abandoned his cyclone boots.*

As a child, Gabriel sometimes fell into dark moods, and had a tendency to brood. He was found by the Brotherhood of Light, having been found in one of the convents. It's assumed that his family was the Cronqvist family, with him being a bastard child. The Brotherhood named him after the Archangel Gabriel, and he gave himself the last name "Belmont" due to his love of the mountains, and high places. The child proved himself to be worthy fighter, but would often fall into bad moves, and fall into bad moods. The only person who could rid him of this was his beloved Marie, who he married after getting the blessings of her family and the Brotherhood.

The Brotherhood sent Gabriel on the mission to defeat the Daemon Lord, and succeeded despite being wounded in the process. While he was sent on the mission, Marie gave birth to their son Trevor, but she was warned of Gabriel's descent into darkness. Marie and the Brotherhood decided to hide the birth of Trevor from Gabriel, and he was presumably trained by the group to fight his father when he eventually became the prince of darkness.

A thousand years have passed and Dracula awakened in a cathedral in the year 2057, weak from starvation and with no memory of the circumstances that led to him being there. He is warned by his former enemy, Zobek, of the return of Satan, who until then was deterred from doing so by Dracula himself. Zobek offers him his old weapon, the Vampire Killer, the only relic capable of ending his cursed existence, in exchange for him vanquishing the "acolytes" trying to bring Satan back.
