Thomas was what one could call a nerd, always studying, always reading a book, and always getting 100's on his tests and quizzes -- well, except this time.
He stared down at the paper, at first confused, but once his teacher informed him he had made a slight grammatical error, that confusion turned to horror. He set the packet on the desk and slumped into his chair, a sigh escaping his lips before they pursed to a straight line.
The students were now making fun of him and asking why he was upset with a ninety-nine, but he didn't respond with anything besides his fist clenching up under the table.
Couldn't they just shut up?...
Soon, the teacher walked back up to the front of the class, adjusting her hair before she continued on with class and informed them of their next assignment.

Later, the bell rung, and the students began to pour out of the classes, heading to lunch, or whatever period they had next. Thomas was one of the kids who had lunch, and he walked to the cafeteria, thoughts swirling in his head to the point he wasn't focusing on where he was walking. He ended up walking into someone, and stumbled back, his obsidian coloured orbs of emotion widening slightly as he took in the appearance of the person he bumped into.
"Ah, sorry, I wasn't paying attention-"
